The news about the future health of our planet can be a bit overwhelming, not to mention inconsistent. It’s not always clear if what we’re hearing is accurate or not. So, we turned to science. Because…it is science.
Data tells us that the last four years have been the hottest on record, and according to a 2018 report from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we have roughly a decade to get our environmental act together and try to limit the Earth’s rise in temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit). Let’s break it down even more: The U.N. says we need to find a way to lower our carbon dioxide emissions drastically or completely (and quickly) to make that temperature goal.
